You Should Listen to,Watch, Do, Wear and Read All of This in November

Listen: MJ Lenderman

MJ Lenderman’s album “Manning Fireworks” lures you in with gas station food lyrics and his subtle, easy down home voice. He sounds as if he lives and breathes Western North Carolina and his hometown of Asheville. The music echoes the twang of James McMurtry and makes you want to take it easy on a Tuesday afternoon and maybe just sit outside in a lawn chair and drink a Michelob Light instead of work. It’s brilliantly written music by a great singer-songwriter. Check it out below and see him live all throughout the country in 2025.

Watch: Ripley

Ripley’s hard to ignore once you dive in to the world of Tom Ripley, Dickie Greenwood and Marge Sherwood. You’ll spend half the time watching thinking how can this man Dickie Greenwood allow another man to do this to his life, and the other half of the time thinking this is the most brilliant and beautifully cinematic piece of art you’ve ever watched. Directed by Steven Zaillian, who won an emmy for this series, Ripley is a black and white noir that’s definitely worthy of your couch time. Check it out on Netflix.

Move: The Chad Hero Workout

It may leave you with some type of brief but sore leg, hip or lower extremity injury, but do the Chad Hero Workout. It is simply, but most not simply 1000 step-ups to a 20 inch box. The workout honors Chad Michael Wilkinson of the US Navy who died on October 29, 2018. Wilkinson died by suicide, and his wife Sara Wilkinson has made it her mission to lead The Stepup Foundation and champion suicide and mental health awareness. Do it for a friend or someone you know that’s been affected. It’s a great way to honor them.

Wear: The Delray Denim Shirt from Marshwear

Based in Charleston, SC, Marshwear simply makes high quality salt water looks at an affordable price. Even if you don’t find yourself in the lowcountry fishing in the sunset at high tide with an ice cold Coors every day, you can pull off these clothes. Wear the styles anywhere at any time of the day. It’s a high quality brand that makes a variety of functional styles for men and women.

Read: Atomic Habits by James Clear

Author James Clear has a unique way of stating something totally obvious that you’ve never thought of before. His books resonate with those who think they can do more, want to do more and live with purpose.

Environment design allows you to take back control and become the architect of your life. Be the designer of your world and not merely the consumer of it.
