Fred Again.. A Mind Bending, Brilliant Artist Born Inside British High Society

In this smoking chaos, our shoulder blades kissed
I found you
I found you
I found you
I found you beautiful
I found you exploding
I found you
— Fred Again.. Kyle (I Found You)

Frederick John Philip Gibson, now known as Fred Again.., crafts layers of music and sound that melt both your mind and heart at the same time in different ways. Inside and outside your skin, his sound moves your body whether you want to move it or not. Descending from a truly royal British family line, he was born into privilege, but you wouldn’t know it without an internet search.

In 2022, Fred Again.. introduced himself to mainstream music with his legendary Boiler Room set. Here he goes on a journey through multiple genres and crafts a truly brilliant set of music and art. Listen below and lock in to the world of Fred Again..

Fred is the son of a Barrister in England named Charles Anthony Warneford Gibson. His father is a descendant of Dukes, Earls and Barons in England. From 2006 to 2011, Fred attended a famous private boarding school called Marlborough College in England. At 16, he joined a singing group at Brian Eno’s school and started collaborating with the legend. Eno’s influence charted the course for Fred’s career and began to color and shape the music of Fred Again..

My interest in making music has been to create something that does not exist that I would like to listen to.

I wanted to hear music that had not yet happened, by putting together things that suggested a new thing which did not yet exist.
— Brian Eno

During Covid-19, Fred started a project called “Actual Life” and crafted beautiful works of art such as “Kyle (i found you). This album showcased Fred’s unique ability to take clips from his phone, sounds, memes and other Internet videos and see the beauty in all of it and create something new. There’s a desperation in the clips he uses and a deep need to be heard and seen. At Glastonbury 2023, he owns the massive stage and displays live what “Actual Life” could truly be. The Brian Eno influence is unmistakable in the video below.

His success stems from his obvious talent, but he exudes a positive spirit that truly vibes with people and speaks through his music. He doesn’t seem to resonate with the negativity of fame that much and seems intent on creating with he is meant to create. Despite picking up BRITs Producer of the Year award in 2020, Fred’s continued to handle the fame and collaborate with some of the industry’s best artists.

His set for NPR’s Tiny Desk in 2023 truly showcases his undeniable talent. Completely stripped down, you begin to realize what this artist is all about and see him create first hand. You clearly hear the undeniable innocence of his music and the influence of Eno.

I want to make things that put me in the position of innocence, that recreate the feeling of innocence in you.
— Brian Eno

On a down day, you can simply queue up Fred’s music or an hours long set and let it play in the background. You can guarantee yourself a backdrop of sound to the day that will heal and make you feel better. He posted a rooftop set to his youtube channel earlier this year that’s just him simply spinning and vibing for a friend’s party in London.

Fred just completed a North American Tour in October of 2024, and here’s to hoping he tours again in 2025 for all of us that love to experience great music and art together.

I believe in singing. I believe in singing together.
— Brian Eno
